New Central Acute Services Building

This project was a significant new landmark development on the Westmead Hospital site at Westmead. The building was to being provided to centralise various hospital services within one large development.  

With a cost of works over $900 million the project was significant in terms of scope and complexity.  

The building has a variety of uses located within it such as health care, a training area for University of Sydney students, residential accommodation, office areas and retail facilities.  

With cutting edge technology installed throughout, this building is at the forefront of medical facilities within New South Wales.  

AED’s involvement started with initial design assessment and included the review of design documentation as the design progressed to ensure that a compliant design was able to be completed. We also undertook various site inspections during the construction phase to identify compliance issues and assist the design team and the builder to address any compliance issues allowing the development to be completed in a manner compliant with the relevant accessibility requirements. In addition, performance-based solutions were prepared by AED to address the design, meeting the performance provisions of the BCA.
